Hi everyone! I'm Darren Smith. I was born in Cleveland, Ohio and am the youngest of four children. I lived in Cleveland until I was 21, at which point I went off to college at Miami University (Ohio) for undergraduate studies in marketing and accounting. I did not finish college, however because of financial difficulties and returned to Cleveland at the age of 24.

I worked for one-and-a-half years for Sherwin Williams and that’s when I started modeling. I wasn’t happy with my job and wanted something different in my life - something that not everybody could do. I went to an open call for modeling and was signed the next day to a 4-year contract. I did a couple of photo shoots in my first month, but nothing big enough to make me just concentrate on modeling. With Cleveland not being a big market for models, I couldn’t get enough exposure to concentrate on modeling full time.

When I was 25 I enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed near the west coast in Wyoming. Life is slow here, so I’m using that to my advantage to work on my modeling career and update my portfolio with some very promising photographers. I figure this gives me a good opportunity to make some contacts and gain exposure by shooting with reputable photographers.

I work in the Public Affairs office for the Air Force and I realize this gives me a great opportunity to be seen and heard. This job provides me with unlimited opportunities in the future. I can work for any company and be a public relations expert with the knowledge I am gaining here.

I am also working toward completing my baccalaureate degree in marketing while in the military. I feel with four years of public relations and a marketing degree, I have a strong grasp on me deciding what my future will be.

My current ambitions include modeling, separating from the military in two years and receiving my degree in marketing.

I’m updating my portfolio while I’m in the military and plan to attempt full-time modeling when I separate in 2 years.
