BIOGRAPHY Gaspard Ulliel, born November 25, 1984, in Boulogne-Billancourt, Hauts-de-Seine, France, is a French actor and former male fashion model.
Ulliel attended the University of Saint-Denis, where he studied cinema. He began acting at 12. In fact, he began by chance, "It was a friend a friend of my mother who was opening an agency and she was looking for young kids, so I entered the agency, but more by curiosity than real passion. At first, I had some small parts in TV movies, then bigger parts in TV movies, small parts in theatre movies, and then this. As I had a really slow progression, I think it really helped me to stay lucid and to keep grounded", he said. Since then, he has starred in a number of television productions, including La Bascule, Juliette, Julien L'apprenti and Le Refuge.
His first film was Alias, in 1999. Since then, he has become increasingly popular and has been nominated for a César Award (Best Young Male) in 2003 for Embrassez qui vous voudrez and won in 2004 for his role in Les égarés. Ulliel previously performed at the Cours Florent, where he was discovered by Les égarés director André Téchiné. His biggest role to date was Un long dimanche de fiançailles (A Very Long Engagement), in which he played Manech, Audrey Tautou's character's love interest.
The year 2007 is a banner year for Gaspard, with upcoming films where he played the lead. One of them is Jacquou Le Croquant. He will also appear as a young Hannibal Lecter in the prequel Hannibal Rising, slated for release on February 2007. View GALLERY:
